Counselling

Counselling service is available through Piki. Check with your GP to see if you are eligible for this free service. You can self refer www.piki.org.nz.


Community Support Workers

As Community support workers a part of the new Access & Choice model rolled out into the practice, we provide a community-based walk alongside support designed as a brief intervention service of up to three months.

The following areas we are able to assist and provide service for:

  • Physical health or healthy lifestyles 

  • Emotional health & wellbeing 

  • Housing 

  • Social engagement 

  • Paid work 

  •  WINZ

  • Money matters 

  • Family/whānau issues 

  •  Managing drug use, drinking or gambling 

  • Managing medications


Health Improvement Practitioner

Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) support patients who are experiencing stress and other challenges which are negatively impacting upon their health and wellbeing.

HIPs support patients to explore possible changes that they could make to their lifestyle behaviours that would support them in working towards better health and wellness. HIP consults are free of charge and do not need a GP/nurse referral as patients can book in themselves to see a HIP.

Our consults are for 30 minutes and are accessible to any patient registered within the GP practice.


Diabetic Podiatrist

Blair Bridge works at Newtown Medical Centre twice a week on a Monday and Friday. Appointments to see Blair are made through Tu Ora. For more information on how to get an appointment please call Tu Ora on 04-801 7808.


Physiotherapist

Our Physiotherapist is available on a Monday and Wednesday each week. You can be referred to our Physiotherapist by our clinicians or can self-refer.
