Newtown Medical Centre is offering COVID vaccinations to our Group 3 and Group 4 populations, aged 16 and older. Our COVID Clinic’s run on Wednesdays all day. Please ring us on 04 389 9955 or visit reception to book in your appointment. Please note there is no cost for the vaccine.
Getting your second dose
For the best protection, it’s important to get 2 doses of the vaccine. The standard gap between doses is now 6 weeks or more.
Early findings from a small number of well-designed studies show that an extended gap between doses of the Pfizer vaccine gives at least an equally robust immune response.
There will be some exceptions. For example, if you are on a specific clinical treatment plan or are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19, you may be advised to have a shorter gap between doses.
The minimum gap between doses will continue to be 21 days.
If you have already booked and the gap between your appointments is less than 6 weeks, you can keep the second appointment or choose to change it. The important thing is to get 2 doses of the vaccine to be fully vaccinated.
