Practice Plus
Practice Plus is Newtown Medical Centre’s trusted virtual health provider, available weekdays until 10pm and weekends and public holidays 8am – 8pm.
Through video or phone technology, a Practice Plus Clinician can privately and securely help treat most medical needs, sicknesses or injuries. From a common cold, contraceptive options, migraines and more, Practice Plus can provide treatment and prescriptions direct to your pharmacy along with health counselling and off-work certificates, as well as many more conditions.
Through Practice Plus you can book a virtual consultation with one of their GPs if you need assistance between the hours of:
Weekdays 5pm to 10pm
Weekends and Public Holidays 8am to 8pm

How to book
You can book in two ways:
See a Clinician now – this will book you into a queue to be seen by the next available Clinician.
Book an appointment – this will allow you to book a specific time that works for you.
Appointments are 15 minutes long. If you present with more than one issue that requires more time, then you have the option to rebook another appointment.

Ages 14 and over: $65
Ages 13 and under: $55
Community Services Card holders: $19.50
Wellington Accident and Urgent Medical Centre
If you require medical attention after 5pm Monday-Friday, one a public holiday, or over the weekend, please go to Wellington Accident & Urgent Medical Centre (WAMC).
This is a walk in service, no appointment is necessary. Wellington Accident and Urgent Medical Centre are open every day from 8am – 9pm.

There is limited free 60 minute parking available in front of WAMC on Adelaide Road.
Wellington Hospital Emergency Department
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, 69 Riddiford Street, Newtown, Wellington 6021
Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The nature and urgency of your illness or injury will be assessed when you arrive at the Emergency Department. Patients are treated in order of urgency, not arrival times, so those with more severe symptoms or injuries are treated before those with less serious conditions.
