Awanui Labs Strike Action – Service Disruption Notice

Awanui Labs has advised that strike action will take place on:

Tuesday 22 April, Wednesday 23 April, and Thursday 24 April 2025

During these days, there will be a reduction in lab and phlebotomy services. Some collection centres will be closed, and others may experience significant delays. Please visit www.awanuilabs.co.nz to check which centres are open.

Important Notes:

• Flow cytometry testing may be declined on strike days unless it meets urgent clinical criteria.

• Routine samples may be discarded if test volumes exceed staff capacity.

• Clinical details are mandatory for flow cytometry requests – urgent cases must be approved by a Haematologist.

If you have non-urgent blood tests or lab requests, please plan to have these done before or after the strike days.
