Flu Vaccination Clinics – Book Now

As flu season approaches, it’s time to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting your flu vaccination. Newtown Medical Centre’s flu vaccination clinics start on the 1st of April, and appointments can be booked conveniently through Vensa.

Flu Vaccine Clinic Schedule:

  • Monday: Afternoon

  • Tuesday: Afternoon

  • Thursday: All day

  • Friday: Afternoon

Who is Eligible for a Free Flu Vaccine?

Certain groups are eligible for a free flu vaccine under the National Immunisation Programme. These include:

Children:

  • Children 4 years of age and under who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory illness

  • Children on long-term aspirin therapy

Adults and Older Individuals:

  • People aged 65 years and over

  • Māori and Pacific people aged 55 and over

  • Pregnant women (any trimester)

People with Certain Medical Conditions:

  • Cardiovascular diseases (e.g., ischaemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, cerebrovascular disease)

  • Chronic respiratory diseases (e.g., asthma requiring regular preventative therapy, chronic lung conditions)

  • Diabetes

  • Chronic renal disease

  • Cancer (excluding basal and squamous skin cancers if not invasive)

  • Neuromuscular and central nervous system disorders

  • Haemoglobinopathies

  • People pre- and post-splenectomy

  • People with Down syndrome

  • Immune suppression, autoimmune disease, or immune deficiency (including those on immunosuppressive treatments, transplant recipients, or HIV-positive individuals)

Mental Health Conditions:

  • People with serious mental health conditions (e.g., schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder)

  • People currently accessing secondary or tertiary mental health and addiction services

Please note: The following conditions are not funded unless they meet additional criteria:

  • Asthma that does not require regular preventative therapy

  • Hypertension and/or dyslipidaemia without evidence of end-organ disease

If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccine, you can still receive one for $35.
